I am very excited to be participating in a fundraiser for Autism Hope Sheffield by walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks on the 16th July 2022.
Having a child with additional needs can at times feel quite isolating and lonely and this was the reason Autism Hope Sheffield was started, as a way to connect with other parents when my son was diagnosed with autism 5 years ago.I have decided to do this challenge and do it alone to try to raise awareness and represent how alone you can feel at the start of the journey and through support and connection of others who truly understand things do get easier and less daunting.
This isn't going to be an easy challenge for me as I have no experience in doing anything like this! I have however got a great deal of support and I will be doing lots of training and visiting lots of our lovely members on my training walks for a cuppa and a chat about their parental journey so stay tuned for that!
If you would like to read more on this or visit the just giving page please go click on this link:
Hopefully a good amount will be raised to carry on running the group and helping support our members as much as possible!
Update 19th April 2022 = The training is now stepping up as only 12 weeks to go until the challenge! Every week I will be joined by one of our lovely members who will also be featured on the website so we can find out all about them! Today I was joined by the lovely Heather on a training walk and you can read all about her story in the news section xx
